Best Foods Proven to Reverse Diabetes?

Fish: aw, it’s not pork?

can-fish-cure-diabetesNo, it is not. The last diabetes-friendly food would be fish, although this one fights off heart disease more than diabetes. As you know, diabetes is often not a direct killer. Its complications is the other that kills you and the most lethal complication of them all is heart disease. Some fish once a week would cut down your risk for heart disease by 40 percent already. The secret is the fish s fatty acids that reduce inflammation in the body, insulin resistance, and, of course, the risk of diabetes.

Milk: not just helping you grow taller, but also healthier?

does-milk-help-diabetesThis one is pretty much a given, with all of its protein and calcium, but did you know it also helps with diabetes?

In order to fix a problem, you have to get to the root of it. The root of diabetes often lies with the insulin resistance, which a whole lot of dairy is known to fight off. You must, however, take the low-fat or fat-free ones. Yogurt with reduced fat–the Greek-style yogurt–can also help.

Barley: a substitute for rice?

does-barley-help-diabetesIt’s pretty much general knowledge that rice is pretty heavy, but we still eat it to add something to our flavorful proteins. Instead of rice, why not try barley? It raises the blood-sugar 70 percent less than rice. Also, thanks to the soluble fiber and other helpful compounds in it, barley also keep blood-sugar low and steady for an extended period of time.

Olive oil: not just fancy and expensive oil?

can-olive-oil-help-diabetesThis thing is probably the by-product of those elixirs of life myths of alchemy have often spoke of. Olive oil is known for its extremely strong anti-inflammatory content that is often cited as the reason why people who use the stuff regularly have very low rates of heart disease and diabetes. It is often compared to its cheaper counterpart, butter or oil, which is known to increase insulin resistance. Olive oil, in comparison does not and is speculated to even help in the reversal of insulin resistance.

If you’re worried about how expensive it is, don t because seriously? It is so worth it. If you’re still worried, then just use it in small doses. Even just a touch of it slows digestion, preventing a spike to your glucose.

Peanut butter: are you serious?

does-peanut-butter-reverse-diabetesWhy yes, I certainly am. Studies have shown the peanut butter, which contains monounsaturated fats, help in the controlling of blood-sugar. Not only that, it also keeps you from getting hungry in the middle of the day and grabbing any snack you can get your hands on. Compared to any low-fiber, high-carb snack, a peanut butter sandwich would keep your stomach filled for around 2 hours longer.

Whole-grain bread: a diabetes-helper?

can-whole-grain-bread-reverse-diabetesYes, it is, but only the whole-grain bread, okay? Any other type of bread would only be like eating a spoonful of sugar and tricks and we all know how good that is for blood-sugar. Whole-grain bread, in comparison, would raise your sensitivity to insulin and prevent spikes to your blood-sugar, making it more stable. Don t be put off by the coarseness as it is the key to slow-digestion. The coarser the bread, the better. Smear some peanut butter on a few pieces and you have one diabetes-reversing snack.

Oatmeal: the real best breakfast?

can-oatmeal-reverse-diabetesPut away the cereals, oatmeal is the best way to start the day. It’s full of soluble fiber that turns to paste in contact with water. This food paste forms a barrier in your stomach, separating digestive enzymes and starch molecules. What does this do, you ask? Well, it slows the body’s ability to convert carbs to blood-sugar. Being sure my blood-sugar doesn’t go berserk is a great way to start the day, if you ask me.

Do keep in mind that just eating one or two foods from this list does not equate to changing your lifestyle for the better, diabetes-wise. What good would it do if you only end up eating the meats? As much as possible, include everything included here in your new diabetes-reversing diet. I’ll give you a tip you might find to be added incentive to going this life-saving and prolonging diet:

Not only will it keep you healthy, but it will also aid in you losing a whole lot of weight.
